OLD SOL A HARSH MASTER

(Drying up our Springs)

Creeks were bone dry rock,rivers anorexic thin

Our solar energy batteries were spinning dervish wild 

We were sweating -perspiration man,woman,child..

It has never been so hot so long since Texas was recording

Jacobs Well no swimming,as no water now was flowing

Everyone we know is affected by this humid heat

Felt particularly strongly by our homeless on our streets

Roofers too wear water soaked scarves to survive reflected light

It was still almost 100 degrees every Austin night

Laborers slowed right down-their metabolism too

No one knew exactly how to deal,or what to do

They say air conditioning won the West(and that might well be true)

But utility costs rose as high as Summer temperatures,too

The problem is -this over-heating seems forever

Rain Dancers needed now-employ dowsers for more water
