YOUR SUMMER IS OUR WINTER
(We have sunshine all year long..
Tempered by tempests we call "cyclones"
Sometimes-electrical storms..Mostly ,sun
beams down upon our beach brown bodies
(which,to be honest ,are largely light prawn pink..
We have the highest Melanomas in the world
Skin cancers on our hands and face and feet
Schoolchildren wear hats and long sleeves each day
Their playgrounds covered now ,so they can stay
safe from our scorching sun.Surfers wear wet-suits and caps
get skin cancer on their feet and backs-there is no place
immune from sun stroke attack.Only now in Texas do we learn
