LINK: Eric Burdon: 'I got excommunicated from The Animals'

Eric Burdon has said that he was "excommunicated" from his 1960s group The Animals after their split and subsequent court cases.

The singer, who went on to front Eric Burdon's War and have a solo career spanning four decades, this week releases his latest effort 'Til Your River Runs Dry.

Asked how The Animals would have coped with recent changes in the music industry, Burdon told Digital Spy: "I don't think we even would have known about it, because we were so badly managed and misinformed and pushed around by management for their own purposes.

"The Animals were their own worst enemy. The Animals were a band that couldn't live up to their name.

"I was the singer in the band and as long as I was enjoying myself I would keep on working with the band. But it got to be rather nasty once the big money showed up - things started to turn toxic."

Of whether he would play a show to recognise the band's 50th anniversary this year, he added: "Not really - I'm going to leave it up to the record company.
