About the original Woodstock festival (15 to 18 August 1969) Bethel NY one is not issued and the question is whether that will ever happen. More than 500,000, or not hippies or ordinary music lovers, came down to the farm of Max Yasgur. Many of them were moved with a utopia around: would this four-day event can improve the world? The hippies thought maybe so but their state of mind was so intoxicated that they actually not know where they were actually materialized. Witnessed by a personal friend of mine who has been through there. The others, well, who just came for the fun music.

The Netherlands have not been idle after 1969 and they must have thought: "What they can, we can sooner said here ...", in the USA as done and the Dutch version of the renowned American Woodstock festival took shape on 26-27-28 June 1970 and the event took place in the Kralingse Forest in Rotterdam. Immediately Netherlands for their first major pope guy with a good 100,000 visitors were counted. Like their U.S. counterpart, they had also checkout here killjoy first class, the year before the cursed rain.

Names in New York on the poster were were trying to get to the Netherlands as much as possible and it was there quite properly managed. Some of that band and solo performers were Santana, Jefferson Airplane, Country Joe (now without The Fish), Canned Heat and then we had them. But to the festival to give a more 'European' label they also took some interesting acts from within the UK: Al Stewart, Family, East Of Eden, Soft Machine, London from Notting Hill coming Quintessence, T-Rex (Mark Bolan and Micky Finn) and Pink Floyd. From their own ranks appeared the famous Cuby And The Blizzards (with Herman Brood on piano) and Livin 'Blues. The additional Americans were Dr. John The Night Tripper, It's a Beautiful Day, The Byrds and The Flock. All impressive names, but that it was their music as well as impressive? .

Based on the CD we received apparently, what some participants were Cuby & The Blizzards if the festival pulling on walk with their excellent version of "Dust My Blues", they were relieved by Canned Heat with 'Human Condition' and 'So Sad'. The Brit Al Stewart, who really broke through in 1976 with his brilliant long player 'Year Of The Cat', was there all alone but we were still an acceptable version of his "Zero She Flies". Violin Sounds widely and not of The Flock came from the direction of East Of Eden and Country Joe with 'Freedom' brought still pretty fun. But it was especially looking forward to our voodoo doctor Dr.John the Night Tripper and "Mardi Gras Day" did not sound convincing. Then who was convinced Roger Chapman and his family, Roger shouted "Drowned In Wine" and mostly listen to his voice mekkerige.

Santana played three songs, namely 'Gumbo', 'Savor' and 'Jingo', so no repetition of his clever implementation of "Soul Sacrifice" in which drummer Michael Shrieve could enjoy. imagine vengeance Jefferson Airplane, then the San Francisco band par excellence if we leave her Janis Joplin with Big Brother and The Holding Company and the Grateful Dead aside, if Santana (also from SF) pay off with 'White Rabbit', a version that rather messy but beautiful openbloeid begins. The duo T-Rex took over again for a different kind of music 'or Pavillions Sun'.The Byrds had already been measuring a serious reputation and why they unpacked with 'Old Blue' is still a mystery to me. Of course it was also looking forward to the British super band Pink Floyd that the festival was concluded with 'Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun "and" A Saucerful Of Secrets'. So moments to lie quietly in the grass mindless (of course with a tasty joint ...) and just drift away to the music of Pink Floyd.

Some songs at the end abruptly (they have not even bothered to songs to uitdeinen ...) sometimes very disturbing.
Associated live images on DVD are of acceptable quality. Here and there a bit too dark but then so was it is. The soundtrack of the DVD is still in perfect condition and that makes up for it. And if you want to know what to tell Grace Slick (Jefferson Airplane) all, you have to keep serving. The whole DVD Even pressure was exerted by many musicians on call of American boys who had to fight in the war in Vietnam ... and for what? During the original Woodstock in Bethel Men like Arlo Guthrie and Country Joe have done what they could to musically as wouldbe gooder to make their voices heard but eventually both festivals can change the world problems and all the wars that were going on and then nothing while we find that the social aspect, that was highly regarded in their flags is simply lost in the great music that was played at both festivals. Shame it did not help. Alfons Maes (4)

...BECAUSE SOME OF US THINK THAT THIS STUFF IS IMPORTANT
What happens when you mix what is - arguably - the world's most interesting record company, with an anarchist manic-depressive rock music historian polymath, and a method of dissemination which means that a daily rock-music magazine can be almost instantaneous?

Most of this blog is related in some way to the music, books and films produced by Gonzo Multimedia, but the editor has a grasshopper mind and so also writes about all sorts of cultural issues which interest him, and which he hopes will interest you as well.
