THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Tom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied with in seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not? why not indeed!!" Is Artificial Intelligence as big an existential threat to the U.S. as ISIS?  Study is required.

and both worked together against their masters!

Existentially fearful of extinction(so many nuclear weapons,two minutes to midnight)

we fear AI growing from machine intelligence to beyond human intelligence.

Proponents of Paypal,Tesla,Google and Facebook invest millions

in DEEPMIND and VICARIOUS-to replicate human brains

and to extend their reasoning capacities.For reasoning machines,

a KILL SWITCH is required.When AI develops into compounded reasoning processes,

we need to prepare for 'Bad Robots".(HAL in 2001,TERMINATOR franchises)

Remember when the Stock Exchange was panicked by computer stock purchasing?

Remember Orson Welles WAR OF THE WORLDS"broadcast?

Remember ARMAGEDDON ,RESURRECTION and RAPTURE?

Superintelligent WATSON may win @JEOPARDY-but what of nuclear standoffs?

Deficient programing,human factors,errors may well  endanger our cities

Our waters could be poisoned,our skies permanently polluted

Like police policing police-how do we convince rogue hacker programs to relent?

Ask HOME DEPOT!Data was accessed.Risks taken.Even encryption fails.

Soon,Artificial Intelligence will replicate and extend human functions.

Let us hope programing decisions factor in conscience and ethics

Or watch as bad decisions affect our very core of existence
