"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Tom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied with in seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not? why not indeed!!" (The wondrous poetpic is by Jack McCabe, who I hope forgives me for scribbling all over it with Photoshop)
Re: I sit on a stone on the slope
HE IS OLD AND LOSES THINGS
Needs home help to pay his bills
Veteran ,now of 92.He has outlived his friends
and lovers ,too.Gardening was his joy,yet now
he lingers long in bed ,gets confused as to how
he can avoid that "Nursing"home.
His world is solo.He is on his own.
His daughters monitor from far away
He has that bracelet if he falls-they stay
as close as phone and visits will permit. He will die soon
He will not admit/anyone into his orbit.
(If i become a cloud,i ask you to release)
He is a Hemlock Member ,and reserves his peace
as to when and where and how he will leave
He does not know he has already gone from here
When thin and bone and fail and fall complete
His free will fails to predict defeat.
