Renowned guitarist Steve Howe returns

Steve Howe

Following a hugely successful return tour in 2013, this September sees Steve Howe back in the UK.
The songwriter, who is best known as the guitarist and backing vocalist of Yes, comes to The Capitol, Horsham, on Friday, September 26, at 8pm. Steve Howe started playing the guitar over 50 years ago in the 1960s ‘guitar boom’.

He was given some encouragement by his siblings to listen to other styles of guitar playing, which lead him to see the broader and more credible approaches that then diversified his own style, quite considerably.

Jazz, classical, folk and country were then added to his interest in rock, pop and blues.
He listened and watched as Segovia and Julian Bream, Wes Montgomery and Kenny Burrell, Big Bill Broonzy and Albert Lee took the guitar further than what was riding high in the pop charts.
On hearing Chet Atkins album Teensville, Steve noticed the compelling mix of techniques and approaches that made categorising Chet almost impossible, yet defined the versatility that was brought together in one player.

In particular Steve was impressed with Chet’s solo arrangements of well known tunes and his own compositions.

...BECAUSE SOME OF US THINK THAT THIS STUFF IS IMPORTANT
What happens when you mix what is - arguably - the world's most interesting record company, with an anarchist manic-depressive rock music historian polymath, and a method of dissemination which means that a daily rock-music magazine can be almost instantaneous?

Most of this blog is related in some way to the music, books and films produced by Gonzo Multimedia, but the editor has a grasshopper mind and so also writes about all sorts of cultural issues which interest him, and which he hopes will interest you as well.
