MAGDALENA IS CRYING
HER FAMILY IS IN MEXICO CITY
And she still has not heard from them
Houston still waterlogged ,Caribbean stripped
Puerto Rico shaken.But she is crying for her family..
Recently,poets were part of the welcome for Harvey refugees
Little Austin sent huge love to those displaced by hurricanes
but this is personal.Like every Vietnam Veteran reliving wars
and still trying to recreate a Summer of Love.Like every homeless person
under the bridges and on our streets,only asking that we see them.
Every living artist accused of Graffiti.Every civilian begging for
activism-
to change our emotional weather to BETTER,and to share our lives
with those who add to the stone soup that we both make and drink.
So we hug and we cuddle ,affirm and assure Magdalena
And,for a moment,the weather seems clearer than teardrops.
