Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Thom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! HOW TO GET LOST

FIRST,YOU MUST LEAVE THE FAMILIAR

Say,your room.Your "safe"house.Your street.Your neighborhood

where everyone is a mirror of your benign kindness

Next,you need look for and find your totem-

whether it be deer,bird,dog or stray feral cat.Now follow

wherever that may lead you-to water or a forest,alley or a Dreamstate..

You are entering Alien Territory.Not yours.Foreign.

Now you may feel as fragile as dispossessed,orphans,refugees,homeless

dislocated by the unfamiliar.If you have no totem-just walk into the woods

where you know. no sign nor symbol.Now-GO!GET LOST!
