THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

Rob Ayling, yer Gonzo Grande Fromage, writes:

"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Thom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?

IN CHINA,THEY FORCED WOMEN BY BINDING
THEIR FEET HAD TO FIT THE SHOE
In a democracy, the shoe has to fit the electorate
Demographics of marketing and pressure groups
mean various styles of shoes for various occasions.
Elders and the infirm need special; "support"shoes
Dancers on the knife edge need pointed shoes
Business people make shoes that make a profit
Some have sports functions-golf/basketball/running
Some people do not wear shoes at all. They walk, barefoot.
They are happier feeling the earth on their breathing feet.
They are not "in the market" for shoes of any fit
Clown wear HUGE feet for comic effect
Children wear tiny shoes to fit their size and purpose
This meditation will not get you FREE shoes
It is no exhortation to walk sans shoes
I will now add socks to this list of non-essentials
and wear strange shoes to our next open mic government rally..

by the way -do the shoes of your life fit?or do they hurt?

...BECAUSE SOME OF US THINK THAT THIS STUFF IS IMPORTANT
What happens when you mix what is - arguably - the world's most interesting record company, with an anarchist manic-depressive rock music historian polymath, and a method of dissemination which means that a daily rock-music magazine can be almost instantaneous?

Most of this blog is related in some way to the music, books and films produced by Gonzo Multimedia, but the editor has a grasshopper mind and so also writes about all sorts of cultural issues which interest him, and which he hopes will interest you as well.
