Rob Ayling, yer Gonzo Grande Fromage, writes:
"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Thom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?"
WHEN THE BIRDS WERE ASKED
WHICH WAS THEIR FAVORITE TREE
Some said MARY OLIVER,some NAOMI SHIHAB NYE
Where they could rest in truth, beauty, harmonies
What mattered most was not what they opined-it was what their wings loved
To rest and nest in shades and shapes ,with consonant others..
For bulldozers had stolen silence ,and DEVELOPMENT and HIGH RISE
meant disturbance and disruption from their tree perches.
Where once high in elder trust, now tree canopy thin with dandruff age
Overheated traffic,gridlocked emotions,tranquillity unfound.
Yet still they listened-from India and Washington, from all points Austin
Sipping at the Fountain, with Rainforest words and smiles of approval
For all birds love the Company of Birds. When we are winged,
We Fly Together..
