This magazine continues to go off on strange tangents that I never expect, but I am very happy to see it do so. What is in this issue? 120 pages of Justified Ancients of Mu Mu, Bad Manners, Brother Oak, Mark at the Movies, Meghan and Harry, Nik Turner, Liit, Downfall of Humanity, Channeled, The Gardening Club and oodles more.

And there are radio shows from Mack Maloney and Friday Night Progressive, AND Merrell Fankhauser, Mr Biffo, , and the Real Music Club, AND Strange Fruit, there is a column from Kev Rowland, and C.J Stone but Mr Biffo, and Neil Nixon, are on hiatus. Singer-songwriter Barbara Dickson on taking up teaching, the value of the arts and life after lockdown

 If life had turned out differently, and Barbara Dickson hadn’t become one of Scotland’s most successful performers, she might have considered teaching.

Growing up in Dunfermline, Dickson had a love of history and thought she could one day become a history teacher. Instead, her love of the past fed into her early breakthrough as a folk musician, before her chameleon-like career took her into musical theatre, pop, and serious acting roles.

Today, she remains one of the country’s most prolific artists, but last year, lockdown also gave her the chance to finally try her hand at teaching – in the subject of music rather than history – and it turns out she rather enjoyed it.

“I have an inquiring, curious mind, and I did some teaching for Goldster, which was formed by a Scot and is a bit like the University of the Third Age, a place for older people to involve themselves in classes, doing anything from calligraphy to line dancing,” she explained

INFLATION IS A PROBLEM

in our Cosmos as well-if we follow Big Bang Theory

We live in an expanding universe.What evidence supports this?

That we can reverse time travel,and seek our Origins ?

That worm holes exist and can be used for space travel?

That the speed of Light is only one indicator of measurement?

Science and religion clash over our Origins-one story /myth based,

the other using data to string theories together.Which is true?

Thank you to everybody who has been kind enough to wish me a happy Christmas. Many special thanks to my almost sister Kaye who was kind enough to send my nephew Ross over with Christmas dinner for me and Graham. Ross, dear boy, decorated my walking frame with tinsel. Both were a lovely surprise to get up to.
