while freight trains slowly click down the tracks
Union Pacific has campaigned against passenger rail
between Austin and San Antonio(a no-brainer!
Railroad workers are devoted to their tasks..
When they asked for two men crews to be restored
they were ignored.When they asked for sick pay
to deal with being ON CALL 24 hours a day,
they were ignored.Workers are not heard.
They bring up safety issues and staffing issues
and are summarily ignored.Who better to share
the current state of tracks,bridges and rolling stock
than those who every lives depend upon such facts-
Maintenance is essential-both for rolling stock and staff
Short-term profiteering may assist owners and managers-
but those on the ground can see what needs to be done.
