Rob Ayling, yer Gonzo Grande Fromage, writes:
"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Thom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?"
JUST YEARS BENDING KNEES INTO SUBMISSION
I traveled with a walker,then a cane(borrowed)
I took that walking stick to Australia-for my mother
had also fallen, and needed an armory of harmonies
(Every airport cedes to the broken)When i arrived home,
she surprised me with a plethora of sticks(all different!
I had to hobble my way out of the Antipodes(home again..
To learn how gay communities share their mobility assists
How they share wheelchairs and walkers and walking canes
To acknowledge how common is pain-and so unnecessary..
I still hobble slightly.Tilt a whirl.Rarely fall.Levity over gravity
It was the sharing healed me.Friends caring enough
to reach out and stabilize, when the whole world seemed tilted
And falling may be an art form, but i fail the gravity of the situation.
