ONCE IT WAS TAXI DRIVERS
who would be mobile confession boxes
on the wheeled streets -listening like confessors
Now UBER and LYFT allow independent money-making
as private transport for the otherwise un-mobile
Stories of truth and exile flow from the mouths of drivers
who know when deep listening gains tips
and spreads humanity seat by seat
No longer the River Styx .No longer Ferrymen of Underworlds
More refugees from world's war zones
Driving Americans towards deeper realizations-
Worlds are no longer OUT THERE
All wars come home in time'
and we must love and live with survivors-
Migrants,workers,importing cultures
Opening each of us to worlds
We would otherwise have no knowledge of..
Paying to learn,then re-learn..
While they earn.
