Fairport announce new album and tour

FairportThere’s good news for fans of Fairport Convention with the announcement that their first studio album in four years will be released to coincide with their latest UK tour.
Songs and tunes from the brand new album – Myths and Heroes – will feature in the 2015 winter tour, which starts on January 29 in Tewkesbury and concludes in Islington, London on March 1.
Each concert will also open with a short guest performance by talented guitar-fiddle duo Kevin Dempsey and Rosie Carson.

Formed in 1967, Fairport Convention have been
delighting audiences as a working band for nearly 50 years.

Hailed as the originators of British folk-rock music, the group have famously undergone numerous changes to their line-up but are still
as vibrant and inventive as ever.

Fairport’s line-up for the 2015 tour consists of Simon Nicol (guitar and lead vocals), Dave Pegg (bass, mandolin and backing vocals), Chris Leslie (fiddle, mandolin, bouzouki and lead vocals), Ric Sanders (violin) and Gerry Conway (drums and percussion). The winter tour is balanced out by the midsummer madness of Fairport’s Cropredy Convention, the legendary annual festival that dates back to the 1970s and has brought a wide range of big-name acts to Cropredy over the years, each event finishing with a mammoth Fairport and friends set.

...BECAUSE SOME OF US THINK THAT THIS STUFF IS IMPORTANT
What happens when you mix what is - arguably - the world's most interesting record company, with an anarchist manic-depressive rock music historian polymath, and a method of dissemination which means that a daily rock-music magazine can be almost instantaneous?

Most of this blog is related in some way to the music, books and films produced by Gonzo Multimedia, but the editor has a grasshopper mind and so also writes about all sorts of cultural issues which interest him, and which he hopes will interest you as well.
