THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

Rob Ayling writes:

"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Tom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied with in seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not? why not indeed!!" (The wondrous poetpic is by Jack McCabe, who I hope forgives me for scribbling all over it with Photoshop)

"BIG,BOLD,FOOD DREAMS"
Once upon a time,we were an agriculture-based society
In 1790,farm jobs were 90%.Today(2015)-it is 2%
Mechanization and mass farming have changed the nature of food production
and it will all change again in our lifetime.Tissue engineering and 3D printing
already grows beef, chicken, pork and leathers in a laboratory. In 2012,it took 60 billion land animals
to feed 7 billion human beings.Genetically engineered crops(biotech)now use 148 million hectares,
serving up a trillion GE meals so far, with no illness reported.
Vertical farming with Artificial Intelligence controlled buildings makes crops immune to weather,
and requires no herbicides nor pesticides.Plant-based alternatives (Soylent)and personalized nutrition,AI-designed recipes,
Food-On -Demand(Uber Fresh,Munchery)are all viable food production and distribution patterns
working now and expanding .Global food retail sales alone account for $4 trillion a year, and constitute 15%
of what American households spend each year.Once the food crisis is addressed, next will be the world wide water drought.
Dreams only work when applied. For food, water and life, everything needs to change.Yesterday..

...BECAUSE SOME OF US THINK THAT THIS STUFF IS IMPORTANT
What happens when you mix what is - arguably - the world's most interesting record company, with an anarchist manic-depressive rock music historian polymath, and a method of dissemination which means that a daily rock-music magazine can be almost instantaneous?

Most of this blog is related in some way to the music, books and films produced by Gonzo Multimedia, but the editor has a grasshopper mind and so also writes about all sorts of cultural issues which interest him, and which he hopes will interest you as well.
