THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

Rob Ayling writes: 

"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Tom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied with in seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not? why not indeed!!" HAVE NOT BOUGHT A RECORD FOR A DECADE

First memories scratch of steel pin on black shellac 78rpm

Green baize cloth beneath.Replace pin each time.Groove!

Next black vinyl-singles,EPs,LPs,Double/Triple LPs,Box Sets

Addictive faves like ASTRAL WEEKS,MOONDANCE,

HIGHWAY 61 REVISITED,BLOOD ON THE TRACKS-

Bands one would buy ALL their releases/others simple singles

Then those records one would wear out and replace

Over and Over/never tire/never retire-just replay ad infinitum.

You cannot call it RETRO when one never stopped loving

Even when there are no Beatles,only two WHO

and the Rolling Stones look like landslides of skin

I hear SPOTIFY,know of BANDCAMP

Do not up nor download any tracks

Hear music everywhere-elevators/restaurants/phone ring tones

Wish there were a space for silence.A single candle lit

to remember every track that was a HIT/and every MISS

that still sang to our dreams-as if/they would never end..
