SUNWEED CLOCKS
TOWERING LIKE GRANDFATHERS
The sunflowers are elders
Watching Old Sol in summer
as he scorches Texas skies
Clumps rise,wilde by
roadside
Sometimes,solo witnesses
More likely,clumps of high rise
bright
yellow Van Gogh 3D
sculptures
I watch them demise,too-
when no rain and only sun
makes them brown thin drooping stalks
When young,they rise,eager to follow
bright sun skies
When night comes,they snore like
Japanese lanterns
when their power is turned
off.Sunflowers are human,too
Sunflowers are you.
