RICK WAKEMAN: The New Live Album

Bloody Hell the new Rick Wakeman live album is a corker! I was spending this afternoon working on the latest volume of the Haunted Skies UFO encyclopaedia and seeing that amongst the tracks on offer was a version of 'No Earthly Connection' it seemed vaguely appropriate to put it on.

It is a real stonker. The real surprise is not how good Rick's keyboard playing sounds; we knew that anyway, but how Ashley Holt's voice has matured over the years. He really is a vocalist par excellence these days, and really deserves to take his place amongst the Hall of Fame reserved for yer great Rock Singers (with cvapital Rs and Ss).

Check out one of my officially sanctioned bootlegs:

...BECAUSE SOME OF US THINK THAT THIS STUFF IS IMPORTANT
What happens when you mix what is - arguably - the world's most interesting record company, with an anarchist manic-depressive rock music historian polymath, and a method of dissemination which means that a daily rock-music magazine can be almost instantaneous?

Most of this blog is related in some way to the music, books and films produced by Gonzo Multimedia, but the editor has a grasshopper mind and so also writes about all sorts of cultural issues which interest him, and which he hopes will interest you as well.
