Rob Ayling writes:
"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Tom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth, Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied with in seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not? why not indeed!!" (The wondrous poetpic is by Jack McCabe, who I hope forgives me for scribbling all over it with Photoshop)
WHEN I WAS VERY YOUNG I HAD TWO HOMES
both were libraries. At home, I would collect tomes
of
authors who impressed me - storytellers mainly
Comics, Readers
Digest magazines,encyclopaedias
Each
would intrigue me in different and unique ways
I
would dive like a gannet into pages and rarely surface
My
local Chermside Municipal Library held treasures
Hours
would slowly be devoted to Interpretation of Dreams
Rock
Art, pictures of lands far away/exotic stories of intrigue
Older, the
Queensland State Library - with leather bound silences
Home
libraries. Every move, a release of bird winged books
Gifts
of books - as school prizes, between friends who found them
NEW! EXCITING!
Finally,the
making of books - page by pamphlet page/a poetry of longing
to
be a Library is everything!
