story writers know the jazz of flash and the stretch of extend.
Novelists
run libraries and bookstores, Festivals and readings
All
know the music of solitary. Some prison time/most veterans

with snake stories that bite as only the Southwest cacti dare.
Drag
your pain on a page and watch the blood get unpublished
Stale
and rancid as a dead dog's carcass / what cannot be told
