WE ARE THE BAD GUYS NOW
LADY BIRD LAKE FESTIVAL
Once again,Mr Habitat(Bill
Oliver)
assembled
artists,poets,musicians together
to serve the imagination
of the East Side of Austin
He mentioned to those
assembled how they(the people of East Austin) had organized
to close down the Holly
Power Plant (of noise and mess disturbing their habitat)
how they had also
organized to move the power boat races(of noise and mess, disturbing their
habitat)
how their access to Lady
Bird Lake(a wildlife habitat in the heart of Austin
was a vital community
resource,as well as being home to heron&egrets, turtles &fish
Austin Fire Department
reinforced safety near water("TURN BACK,DON'T DROWN")
Worm farms and Compost Art
reinforced links with the very earth beneath us.
Elementary school students
performed their musical and vocal skills for each other
and children danced,and
played,safely and securely with elders
who shared ways to relate
to their environment
East
Austin,specifically-THEIR habitat!.Each went away with art and play
Each will remember the
surprise of blue heron in gray skies/white egrets parked in green trees
They will learn to
remember to love where they are-to live
safely,securely,harmonically,artistically
in the future we are
bequesting them.
