"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Thom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?"
I WAS TOLD ONCE TO ALWAYS ENGAGE
To not withdraw from the possibility of conference
so that common energy fields are established
There were always obvious limits to this -
no violence or cruelty, and limited cynicism /sarcasm
(which were cheap ad hominem shots/not worth the bullets
I want folk to flower in their own weedy ways
I carry no patterns of perfection-just persistence
And there are certain souls i rejoice in sharing with
and others whose shadows overtake their Light
I make more mistakes than most by such forthrightedness
I tried SILENCE(it did not work).People presume(wrongly)
They project. They want obedience.Standard Consumption Patterns.
Yet are we creative enough to Lotus Dance in a mud pond
With haiku frogs flapping green politics, and ever-renewable conversations.
A cup of tea.Civility.Exchange of gifts.Civilization begins(again).YOU ARE IT!

The gravest danger to American democracy isn’t an excess of vitriol—it’s the false promise of civility.
There are two definitions of civility. The first is not being an asshole. The second is “I can do what I want and you can shut up.” The latter definition currently dominates American political discourse.
