GET IN THE CAR AND GO!
To the beach,a waterfall,a National Park
A rainforest,a Wildlife Sanctuary
Maybe Lone Pine,where kangaroos lounge on the grass
and you can lounge with them
Maybe Byron Bay where daylight hits sooner
than any other part of Australia
Maybe a surf beach at Noosa
where the waves are curled and high enough
to sustain your being dumped in the sands...
When i go home,my sister takes me to the beach
Then to a waterfall,then a rainforest
All of this in one day. A world of waters various
Each a self-initiation in diversities
A day can be a lifetime in Paradise
ON THE BEACH...
BELOW LONDON,IN A VILLAGE
where friends played bands and let me jam
We had just finished a set of improvisations
and a happy drunk comes up to me,and says-
THAT WAS FAB!LET US EXCHANGE T-SHIRTS!
Now,this ritual puzzled me,but..why not?
So i took off my rainbow tshirt of many colors
and squeezed into his proferred gift..
It was small and snug over my Buddha Belly
but the point of the parable was this
On the blue tshirt-4 (BEATLE)figures
and letters saying
DAY TRIPPER!

YOU CAN GET BACK BEFORE DARK
You can leave early and squeeze more activities in
My mother-i went with her -to a donkey farm
solely because she wanted out of the Rest Home
The donkeys were irrelevant
The scones and jam and tea were important
Also the movement out and away
For a day trip can be a liberation/a revelation
It matters not so much where you end up
The tour guide.The bus driver.The Underworld
can transport you out of dull habits
'into fresh and refreshed play of light
You chat and chew and laugh
You will be home before night
