THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Thom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?"

ROBERT FROST HAD PREPARED HIS POEM

for John F Kennedy's Inauguration.But the sun..

So ..another poem..Both knew of Walt Whitman's paen of praise for Lincoln.

But Inaugurations are birthing moments-Clinton in 1993 with Maya Angelou.

Lesser in 97 with Miller Williams.Obama in 2009 with Elizabeth Alexander,lesser in 2013 with Richard Blanco.

These last are all within our lifetimes..But Bush did not want poetry in his White House-so POETS AGAINST THE WAR

said"We shall have poetry in every house in the Nation...Trump is no friend to metaphor, so when Amanda Gorman(Young,Gifted and Black)hailed in the service of Joe Biden -the Nation cheered @this optimism.

Poet Laureates are often called upon to write to Great Occasions,and often Bards like Bob Dylan are seen 

reminding "Even the President of the United States wakes up naked".and Jay Z was seen in the Obama Days..

We live in dramatic days,and poetry is required to deal with plagues of cynicism and Insurrection.

It is again time-for every poet to sing their Future in....despite every Administration....
