Rents rise exponentially,as do taxes and house prices
Income rarely rises so quickly.You cannot live on minimum wage in Austin City.
Our homeless rise ,like the number of deaths on Austin streets
What is to be done?Dedicating funds requires direct data-hence volunteer counts of existing homeless
At the same time,homeless are moved out from under overpasses/or from living in the Green Belt
Unless there are legal spaces for human beings at risk,then all improvised shelter is illegal.
Once ,in Austin,homeless were fined and jailed in a recurring pattern."At least,in jail-food and shelter"
This recycling fixes nothing.While evictions rise and old homes and duplexes get demolished,
costs still accelerate beyond income levels.Criminalizing the dispossessed forgets how easily this happens..
So-the count begins.It will be a projection,as some people hide from any authorities.PTSD is rife,and stress.
There is no romance in homelessness.Every body needs shelter.We are more than numbers.
