Rob Ayling, yer Gonzo Grande Fromage, writes:
"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Thom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?"

Subject: NO. NOW THE TREES OF SOUTH AUSTIN
ARE BATTERED WIVES,BEWILDERED YOUTH,BEATEN CHILDREN
War Zone .Broken branches.Scattered shattered remnants
Across Lansing ,Menchaca-all the way up to Ben White Boulevard
All broken beauties.Snapped off limbs.I love these trees generically/personally..
I do not know their secret names-but species-YES!Live oak,elm,hackberry..
Prefer them alive and well(same as people). They have legal status in New Zealand,Norway,Sweden.
They are our South Austin family trees. We planted many to boost our ageing tree canopy.
We branch off.We plant roots. They grow in the Light of Day.When ice storms creak their impending brokenness,
they crash down, defeated /overloaded ice.Their ends diminish us.We live within these trees' debris..
Sawed into pieces-to be carted away.
