Roy Wood to rock it up for Wizzard pal

Star – Roy Wood
A star-studded benefit concert featuring Wizzard’s Roy Wood and rocker Steve Gibbons will be held on Tuesday to raise funds for leading saxophonist Mike Burney, who has been out of action on the local music scene while fighting cancer.
A whole host of musicians have banded together for the gig – waiving their fees to raise money for the former Wizzard band member, at the Birmingham International Jazz and Blues Festival. This year, the festival’s 29th anniversary, will be the first year Mr Burney, renowned as both a top jazz saxophonist and flautist, has been unable to perform.
Steve Gibbons, of the Steve Gibbons Band, described Mr Burney as ‘such an important figure in Birmingham music’.

...BECAUSE SOME OF US THINK THAT THIS STUFF IS IMPORTANT
What happens when you mix what is - arguably - the world's most interesting record company, with an anarchist manic-depressive rock music historian polymath, and a method of dissemination which means that a daily rock-music magazine can be almost instantaneous?

Most of this blog is related in some way to the music, books and films produced by Gonzo Multimedia, but the editor has a grasshopper mind and so also writes about all sorts of cultural issues which interest him, and which he hopes will interest you as well.
