Rob Ayling writes:
"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Tom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth, Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied with in seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not? why not indeed!!" (The wondrous poetpic is by Jack McCabe, who I hope forgives me for scribbling all over it with Photoshop)
"THE WHOLE WORLD IS ON FIRE!"
Flashing police lights mini color swirl fireworks 4th July
"no-refusal"weekend
Everywhere
- illuminations!Rockets burst randomly,illegally /360 degrees
skyline
bursting
with semi-automatic POPS! BANGS! SWIRLS!of vanishing stars
like
napalm in a Vietnamese newsreel,or bombing of Baghdad or
Afghanistan
We
saw the future sold to us as fire-send drones overseas, they return
again
like
MADE IN CHINA fireworks stalls infiltrating Texas highways
temporarily
and
Fire Brigade flashing lights and speed and waterhoses upon another burning
home
Hear
is where we are.Witnesses in a free fire zone.Someone has to "burn the village
to save the village"
Traffic
becomes bloodstreaming corpuscles-white one way,red another-gridlocked
We
watch this world as cats do-inside,waiting for eternal wars to
cease
There
is only another weird beauty driving scene as we see flashes of light define our
late night return to home-
our
temporary space, and time,to smile like all refugees, secure only in this
momentary beaming
"O
say-can you see?-by the dawn's early light..twilight's last
gleaming..
