INTERVIEW: Rick Wakeman's long journey from the centre of the earth

LONG APPRENTICESHIP: Rick WakemanFORTY years have gone by since renowned progressive rock caped keyboard player Rick Wakeman did the concert, Journey to the Centre of the Earth, based on the Jules Verne book.
The concert tour played three dates in the UK and was a big success in America, Australia and Japan in 1974 to 1975.
Now all these years later, Rick is back on tour in the UK with the show and it's been one heck of a journey.
Fans can see it live for the first time since the 1970s when it comes to the Plymouth Pavilions on April 26.
Rick and The New World Symphony Orchestra, accompanied by the English Chamber Choir and the English Rock Ensemble, will celebrate this anniversary with a state-of-the-art, dramatic, live presentation of this classical-rock crossover work.
Rick, probably best known for his time in super group Yes, explains from his Norfolk home that plans to get the 'journey' back on the road started in the 1980's but hit with big problems. The management company Rick was with closed down and he thought all his music to do with the show was in storage.

...BECAUSE SOME OF US THINK THAT THIS STUFF IS IMPORTANT
What happens when you mix what is - arguably - the world's most interesting record company, with an anarchist manic-depressive rock music historian polymath, and a method of dissemination which means that a daily rock-music magazine can be almost instantaneous?

Most of this blog is related in some way to the music, books and films produced by Gonzo Multimedia, but the editor has a grasshopper mind and so also writes about all sorts of cultural issues which interest him, and which he hopes will interest you as well.
