Cropredy ready to go for world record bunting attempt
Cropredy Festival-goers are being urged to take part in a world record attempt for the longest unbroken string of bunting.
Organisers hope to create a seven-mile chain to hang around the festival just outside Cropredy, near Banbury.
During the three-day event in August, there will be a stall run by a team from fine art gallery Compton Verney, based in Warwickshire, for fans to decorate blank flags to add to the bunting.
Members of the band Fairport Convention will visit Compton Verney – which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year – later this month to make a start decorating the bunting.
Simon Nicol, of Fairport Convention, which organises Cropredy, said: “It is a fun way for us to support the gallery which is a local charity. So we’ve got our crayons and paint boxes out to decorate the flags.
