THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

Rob Ayling writes: 

"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Tom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied with in seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not? why not indeed!!" FEAR OF SHARIA

For over 500 years,Muslim slaves were banned from The New World

Spain's Catholic Church issued "cedulas"to bar Jews,heretics,Moors and "New Christians"-

but their primary prohibition was the importation of "escalavos blancos"(white slaves!)

Muslim women however were not banned-in fact "moriscos"/"mujeres publicos"

were imported to serve in brothels to prevent slaves mixing with indigenous women.

Muslim slaves still retained their religion under different regimes-

in North America,literate slaves were promoted to positions of responsibility
far more than in South America.Bilali Mohammad was one who rose to supervise other slaves

and to organize slaves to  repel British forces in the War of 1812.

Hispanic regimes were more attuned to Muslim uprisings in Europe

and repressed their slaves  according to Catholic wishes

Rare writings of Muslim slaves have indicated that many were multilingual,

literate and able to retain Ramadan and their Muslim religion despite persecution.

Consider these seeds when reviewing post September 11 wars in Muslim countries

for religious supremacy?or the "values of civilization".Pogroms vs jihads
