The August lull in the touring schedule provides a brief opportunity to have a look a little further ahead to the autumn when it seems as if every musician on the planet wants comes to the region.

One such artist, former Genesis guitarist/composer Steve Hackett has a gig in sage Gateshead's big sage one on October 17.

Hackett comes to Tyneside with an anniversary to celebrate plus a new-ish album, Wolflight, and a huge career retrospective box-set just released.

Wolflight is the first studio album of new material since Beyond the Shrouded Horizon in 2011 and explorers past and contemporary cultures in a revolutionary journey around the globe. The record reached the top 40 album chart on release back in March.

...BECAUSE SOME OF US THINK THAT THIS STUFF IS IMPORTANT
What happens when you mix what is - arguably - the world's most interesting record company, with an anarchist manic-depressive rock music historian polymath, and a method of dissemination which means that a daily rock-music magazine can be almost instantaneous?
