PREVIEW: Barbara Dickson set for Floral Pavilion return

Barbara Dickson returns to New Brighton on September 12

MULTI-MILLION selling singer Barbara Dickson returns to Wirral for a special concert nextmonth.

The musician, actress and radio presenter will be joined by Nick Holland in a folk duet at the Floral Pavilion in New Brighton on Saturday, September 12.

Keyboard Nick joined Barbara's touring band in the mid-2000s. He also sang on her Full Circlealbum, the first to feature the style of music she now performs.

In 2009, Barbara was offered a festival where a 'duo' line-up seemed more effective than the big band and asked Nick to join her.

Since then, they have played together in cathedrals and abbeys, folk festivals and theatres and developed an intimate rapport with each other and the audience.

Barbara said: “It’s a different experience to working with the bigger band, but just as enjoyable and gives the music ‘breathing space’”.

Born in Dunfermline the former civil servant signed her first recording contract in 1968.

In 1974 Barbara's life as a 'travelling folk musician' was thrust in an unexpected direction when Willy Russell offered her a role in his Beatles’ musical John, Paul, George, Ringo… and Bert at Liverpool’s Everyman Theatre.

...BECAUSE SOME OF US THINK THAT THIS STUFF IS IMPORTANT
What happens when you mix what is - arguably - the world's most interesting record company, with an anarchist manic-depressive rock music historian polymath, and a method of dissemination which means that a daily rock-music magazine can be almost instantaneous?

Most of this blog is related in some way to the music, books and films produced by Gonzo Multimedia, but the editor has a grasshopper mind and so also writes about all sorts of cultural issues which interest him, and which he hopes will interest you as well.
