THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Tom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied with in seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not? why not indeed!!" YOU CAME INTO THIS (S)KIN WITH SOUNDS

but they were attention-seeking.Your needs!

Swimming in emotions,you used all your senses

to communicate with a specific audience-peers&parents..

When words came,they were to share experiences.

You grew in vocabulary,incorporating disparate data

You were told stories by your elders.You believed some,rejected others

When you told stories perhaps they were brag and boast(early hyperbole)

Educated in Myths,you incorporated some into Beliefs/and adapted them

Goddess became Woman became Mother became Girlfriend became Ex-

You were living the stories as told/sold to you-and it worked!

When you started telling stories/they were much like the ones you heard

Perhaps with added panache-a dash of music/exotic locale

Narrative arc was linear/time-defined,with significant actions compressed

Editing always meant self-censorship."Tailoring tales to specific audiences"

continues in whatever form you choose-employment applications,CVs,jokes..

Maybe you will write a play or direct a movie.Maybe you will act and use others' lines

RASHOMON.THE USUAL SUSPECTS.BREATHLESS.JAMES JOYCE.BURROUGHS''CUTUPS"

give you and David Bowie & Jack Kerouac a breathless freedom

It does not have to be true to FEEL true.This is only my version of your Memoir(s)..
