Captain Beefheart Art To Go On Show

The star, real name Don Van Vliet, retired from music in 1982 and spent his remaining years as a painter, and now a vast collection of his avant-garde works will be made public for fans to view.

Some paintings will make up part of the Body Shop display in London, and others feature in a solo exhibition in Cologne, Germany, marking only the second showings of Van Vliet's work since his death in 2010.

Gordon VeneKlasen, director of the Michael Werner Gallery which is organising the shows, tells Uncut magazine, "He was absolutely serious about the work he made, about the work he did..."

The London exhibition launches on 30 September (15) and the Cologne event runs until 24 October (15).

...BECAUSE SOME OF US THINK THAT THIS STUFF IS IMPORTANT
What happens when you mix what is - arguably - the world's most interesting record company, with an anarchist manic-depressive rock music historian polymath, and a method of dissemination which means that a daily rock-music magazine can be almost instantaneous?

Most of this blog is related in some way to the music, books and films produced by Gonzo Multimedia, but the editor has a grasshopper mind and so also writes about all sorts of cultural issues which interest him, and which he hopes will interest you as well.
