THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Thom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?

ONCE UPON A GEORGE ORWELL

Control of society was done directly

with police surveillance and direct army crackdown on dissent

Today,China uses facial recognition and A.I

to identify and track 1.4 billion people.

This has also become a de facto tool of social control,

grading people as to their "reliability"(degrees of compliance)

Grading of citizenry  thus will ultimately determine

work,education and career paths.Compliance is mandatory.

By 2020,there will be 200 million cameras tracking everyone.

As of now,SECURITY is random,loose,inconsistent.

Gossip and shaming works as social controls,too

and their Internet is censored/News filtered for a pro-China bias.

Orwell predicted Big Brother.His target was Stalin's Russia.

China's present rulers do not handle dissent well.Ask Tibet.

Collectivization now means data management.You can be erased.
