"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Thom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?"
SOME THINGS EXIST SOLELY FOR BEAUTY
Like Buddhist Meditators or Zen monks
or those Sand Paintings of indigenous.
Temporary as time or butterfly wings(or love)
or birdsong at mornings or owl moonlight
You see and forget,as they alight and depart
Lightning storms,sunrises/sunsets.Photograph
then forget.Spark alive again when reminded -
That was YOU in that rainforest,wild birds overhead
YOU in that rainstorm,amazed and exhilarated
Moment so momentary even Memory fails
Hold them close in the Altar of your Art
They remind you what is so very important-
to recall and hold what is Holy and Wilde
while it lives among us-temporary as a smile.
