WILD ANIMALS

I WATCHED THE TAME BIRDS INSIDE THIS HUGE CUPOLA

They were doing something strange/i wondered what it was

Then i saw a rush of wings alighting-the wild birds were flying in

The tame ones were feeding them!All they had was food and shelter

Wild birds had the adventures of freedom-to embrace unlimited skies

while tame were torn by fences ,walls,limits of cupola heights

Symbiosis?Empathy?Adoration?Respect?

Then i remembered those Buddhist priests-and tithes in fishing villages

and priests and nuns and meditators sustained by us

We of peace feed the wild inside us-by sheltering homeless

Making sure that feral impulse survives

Making sure that life revives-even if only just outside the cage

of Borrowed Light

THEY STILL HUNT FOXES IN LORD ENGLAND

Eskimos still hunt whales for meat

The feral is seen as a problem child

The tame ends up as pets or in pet food

Cows at McDonalds.Wile rats in plague proportions.

Lamb on plate while cockroach proliferates

Never mind about chocolate ants

nor lark tongues in aspic.Sweeten the rough and wild\

It will still have that tang-of open road kill

and desolate landscapes where only the feral survive

Just like in our own lives...

PLAYLIST: 10-10-2021 – SHOW 431 – Bevis Frond: Little Eden

Strange Fruit is a unique two-hour radio show exploring the world of underground, strange and generally neglected music. All shows are themed and all shows set out to give the most hardened of sound-hounds some new delight to sample.

The show is also unique in providing homework for undergraduate students on North West Kent College’s Foundation Degree in Professional Writing (who dig up many of the odd facts featured in the links between tracks).

Neil Nixon, the founder and presenter of the show has released a book about rare albums for Gonzo Multimedia.

The show is broadcast on Miskin Radio every Sunday from 10-00-midnight.

This magazine continues to go off on strange tangents that I never expect, but I am very happy to see it do so. What is in this week? 120 pages of Shane McGowan, Kristina Bruuk, Bill Drummond, The Perambulator, COP26, Greta Thunberg, Cylas, MC Oliver Twist, Rock the Folk, Tsunami Warning and oodles more.

And there are radio shows from Mack Maloney and Friday Night Progressive, AND Merrell Fankhauser, Mr Biffo, Puls8 Radio, and the Real Music Club, AND Strange Fruit, there is a column from Kev Rowland, and C.J Stone but Mr Biffo, and Neil Nixon, are on hiatus. There is also a collection of more news, reviews, views, interviews and dibblers who have got the blues (OK, nothing to do with tiny marsupials who are listening to the new Bob Dylan album, but I got carried away with things that rhymed with OOOOS) than you can shake a stick at.
