THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

Rob Ayling, yer Gonzo Grande Fromage, writes:

"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Thom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?"

RABBITING AUM
CERAMIC BUNNY
I was in a Texas town(Palestine)
I caught that train for a trip
Got off on a siding when
another dusty town welcomed
Walked around their history
Found an antique shop that welcomed me
Full of ceramic figurines
You remember when people filled their parlors
with little sculptures?Well, the whole shop was just like that!
I stared at dolls and toys and animals rendered glaringly
Looked at the glass cases of small town history
Bought nothing-but it occurred to me
People fear Nature-need to render it posthumously
All these figurines lacked that glow of life and Light
that human beings and animals share(sometimes)
I left that shop, but the memory remained
I was dreaming ceramics on the return train

ONCE I KEPT RABBITS IN MY BACK SHED
Before that-it was a shelter for the homeless
but they came indoors(for the heat)..I went to Victoria Markets each Saturday morning
To beg the leftover lettuce leaves for them to eat. Now,rabbits have personality-eye glam and glow.
They may not talk much, but they know-enough to hop away from guns and towards the food,
so i learn from them,preferred them ALIVE!and LIVING!(never have i eaten Lapin..
But winter came. They caught colds.Even with their fur coats on.So now i think of preserving them
when i stare at ceramic rabbits and -remember when..

...BECAUSE SOME OF US THINK THAT THIS STUFF IS IMPORTANT
What happens when you mix what is - arguably - the world's most interesting record company, with an anarchist manic-depressive rock music historian polymath, and a method of dissemination which means that a daily rock-music magazine can be almost instantaneous?

Most of this blog is related in some way to the music, books and films produced by Gonzo Multimedia, but the editor has a grasshopper mind and so also writes about all sorts of cultural issues which interest him, and which he hopes will interest you as well.
