Rob Ayling, yer Gonzo Grande Fromage, writes:
"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Thom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?"
BEING IN LOVE WITH GLASTONBURY
NOT SO MUCH THE PILTON FESTIVAL
More the small street village that still holds
the Chalice Well,a Labyrinth, and the Holy Thorn Tree..
Besides the vital Assembly Rooms, and BURNS THE BREAD shop..
But most confuse the Festival with that Village-
Long ago,in another time,i was on those Green Fields,
performing with Mother Gong and the Invisible Opera Company of Tibet.
I performed poetry in the Bristol Poetry Tent.I wanted to re-unite with those bright folk..
But Glastonbury Festival 2023 is not 1999.I had applied with Darrel Mayers for inclusion as poet/performers.
No reply.I then asked band members from precious times-Kangaroo Moon/Invisible Opera Company of Tibet-
Same response.2023 was tough and tight.Even the bands could barely get members in.
Jonny from G.A.S could only gain a one day pass as a driver for Steve Hillage.
Kangaroo Moon only got their band members in.Looks like the days of YES! were over.
So i focused upon being with the Jonny and Sue i loved from early GONG UNCON days
and we shared cups of tea and good company in Street-in our own Fest for Us-a FESTIVUS!
