Rick Wakeman, Bruce Dickinson, Glenn Hughes + More Celebrate Jon Lord at Tribute Show

The death of Deep Purple keyboardist Jon Lord in 2012 was a big loss for those in the rock community, and to show how much respect he garnered, Iron Maiden‘s Bruce Dickinson, Yes‘ Rick Wakeman, Whitesnake‘s Mick Moody and Deep Purple’s Glenn Hughes, Ian Paice and Don Airey all took part in a special tribute to the musician.

The event, which took place earlier this month at London’s Royal Albert Hall, was organized by The Sunflower Jam and fans were treated to an impressive evening of music honoring the keyboard great.

Fan shot footage from the event has surfaced online. Above, you can see some of the introductions and performances of ‘You Keep on Moving,’ ‘Burn’ and ‘This Time Around’ fronted by Dickinson and Hughes. Meanwhile, “Deep Purple and Friends’ rocked their classic track ‘Hush,” as can be seen below.

What happens when you mix what is - arguably - the world's most interesting record company, with an anarchist manic-depressive rock music historian polymath, and a method of dissemination which means that a daily rock-music magazine can be almost instantaneous?
