Rob Ayling writes:
"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Tom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied with in seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not? why not indeed!!" (The wondrous poetpic is by Jack McCabe, who I hope forgives me for scribbling all over it with Photoshop)
CLICHES KILL
How many shot bodies
would seek repeal of "gun
rights?"
(Guns don't have rights-people
have rights
And getting fewer by the
bullet
Bullets are like
bricks-materiel
Yet without them-fewer walls and
deaths
I can live without guns quite
well
Words,and art,and dance and
drama-no
They are core to this
communication we enjoy
Which is truncated by a single
bullet.
I find it strange when folk
argue for limitations
I have walked down these same
streets seeking peace
It never comes"from the barrel
of a gun"
There was a massacre outside my
home
It was the start of a plague of
violent irrational acts
until the government( right wing
government)
confiscated all weapons.Those
left were owned by licensed hunters
Massacres stopped.I argue for
you-not to play with words
More to increase our capacities
to articulate freely without self-censorship
or any need to use violence to
prove control is a false god.
