Rob Ayling writes:
"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Tom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied with in seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not? why not indeed!!" (The wondrous poetpic is by Jack McCabe, who I hope forgives me for scribbling all over it with Photoshop)
I AM A WORM
"WISE MEN'S WORDS ARE IN THEIR HEARTS!"(St
Benedict)
So-what remains?Stones of Benedictine
Monasteries pilfered for local houses
in Glastonbury when Henry hung/drew and
quartered Abbott Whiting on that Tor.
Vestigial bread ovens,fish
ponds,wineries-for the Benedictines
were not Francisans-their attunement to
animals was to eat them!
Henry 8th may have plundered these humble
servants of their Lord
but evidence suggested they lived high on
the hog/fat of the lamb..
Poverty was for poor St Francis-a joyfilled
life for Benedictines.
Still people drink their spirit in-in
bottles and in victuals.
Humility and silence are still strangers
here
Some study The Rule of Benedict
but where is silence in a city?
