Rob Ayling, yer Gonzo Grande Fromage, writes:
"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Thom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?"
WE LIVE IN THE DEMISE OF THE DINOSAUR AGE
Much mass movement in motion to make our movement electric
Problem is -battery use, cost and recycling
Solution is-make motion multi-modal-
Start with pedestrian zones @village level
Supplement with bicycle exchange(ideal is YELLOW BIKES of Amsterdam,
or the WHITE BICYCLES of Austin,Texas)
Human -powered is best-to increase the health and mobility of citizens
Next,beyond self-ambulatory modes-assisted transport mobility
Start with self-initiated ones-scooters,skateboards,pedi-cabs,mini-bikes,motor-bikes,powered bicycles /wheelchairs..
Move up to more than solo vehicles-carts,cars,small vans(used for Disability Transport options),
buses,coaches ,hovercraft,aircraft (like Air Ambulances),helicopters,EMERGENCY vehicles..
Public Transport is best modeled by emergency usage-how transport vulnerable,damaged,civilians..
Tram,train,bus,light rail-or a multi-modal combination of all these?
Options need be diverse ,applicable to (population and needs)context
Too much reliance upon motor vehicles makes Los Angeles.
Lack of motor car makes New York
Worst option is to neglect all public options, leaving civilians reliant
upon Shank's Pony,bicycles,taxis,or commercial options like Uber,Lyft.(Inadequate!)
Austin gridlock can and must be solved.IH35 is a fault line.Separation of local and through traffic essential.
Inaction is anarchy, apathy, ennui.Life is a moving experience..GET MOVING!
