Ex-Wife and Killer of Mountain Bassist Felix Pappalardi Found Dead in Mexico

Gail Collins -- the woman who gained fame writing the lyrics for Cream's "Strange Brew" and infamy for shooting and killing her husband, Mountain bass player Felix Pappalardi -- has died at age 72, according to the New York Daily News.

The newspaper reported Collins death over the weekend, saying that she actually died in December in a village in Mexico where, friends told the paper, she was undergoing experimental cancer treatments.  Her body was found by her landlord on December 6.

Collins wrote lyrics for several Mountain songs, as well as for "Strange Brew" and "World of Pain" from Cream's Disraeli Gears, an album produced by her husband.  In addition, her paintings appear on the cover of several Mountain albums, including Climbing! and Nantucket Sleigh Ride.

What happens when you mix what is - arguably - the world's most interesting record company, with an anarchist manic-depressive rock music historian polymath, and a method of dissemination which means that a daily rock-music magazine can be almost instantaneous?

Most of this blog is related in some way to the music, books and films produced by Gonzo Multimedia, but the editor has a grasshopper mind and so also writes about all sorts of cultural issues which interest him, and which he hopes will interest you as well.
