Rob Ayling writes:
"Thom the World poet, is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Tom's poetry tapes and guest appearences with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth, Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied with in seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not? why not indeed!!" (The wondrous poetpic is by Jack McCabe, who I hope forgives me for scribbling all over it with Photoshop)
I was married to a swarm of bees
I spent my time with mermaids hungering for seas
deep
enough to whale me away from harpoon criticisms
(sonar
sent me to the bottom of liquidities..)
Now
pale and wan as a rising moon sea
spend
my time like baskets woven for collection
string
airs together for visual inspection
(soon
all this will be gone
It
does not matter if you are very young
or
elder, creases for retiring sun.
We
both wake up with a mountain in our room
of
what we dare not speak of to dispel all gloom
I sang tidelines to retreating seas.
I stood lamp post in declining lights/hear
mutant
species discussing extinction.
Now
the names will be forgotten /soon,
there
will still be orbits for a distant moon.
Witnesses
are rare, so I will not name you.
Give
you plausible deniability, too!
Best
forget this ever existed here/we are passing,
let
me make it clear/remembrance is an aberration/sweet
the
dream that fades/dissolves each morning/we
are
leaving.. soon.....
