FOLK rock forerunners Fairport Convention are back in south Cumbria this month for their second visit to the county this year.
After a series of high-profile visits in recent years, the legendary outfit will be back once more, playing Kendal following a gig Ulverston's Coronation Hall earlier this year.
Hailed as the founding fathers of British folk rock music, the five-piece still features founder member Simon Nicol and bassist Dave Pegg, who has been with the band since 1969.
Long-time members Ric Sanders, Chris Leslie and Gerry Conway complete the band.
They hit the stage at Kendal’s Brewery Arts Centre on Saturday June 6.
The band was originally formed in 1967, and has won a coveted BBC Lifetime Achievement Award, while Radio 2 listeners voted their groundbreaking album Liege & Lief as “The Most Influential Folk Album of All Time”.
