Yes recently wrapped up a North American summer tour with Toto, and now the British prog-rock legends are turning their attention toward their third Cruise to the Edge fan cruise. The seagoing music festival sets sail from Miami on November 15, then visits Key West, Florida, and Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas, before returning to port on November 19.
Yes guitarist Steve Howe tells ABC Radio that he considers the Cruise to the Edge making it to its third year to be “quite an achievement,” since some other similar music-themed cruises haven’t lasted that long.
Of course, this year’s cruise will be Yes’ first without founding bassist Chris Squire, who died from complications of leukemia in late June at the age of 67. Howe says that, like they did on their recent tour, he and his band mates are planning to include a tribute to Squire during the shows they play on the cruise.
Without going into specifics, he tells ABC Radio that Yes will expand the set it played on the tour with Toto from 90 minutes to about two hours, explaining that it will feature “a small selection of music…that we will have to do a little bit of work on to get up to speed again, but we’re happy to be doing that.”
